Newberry woman killed in head-on crash on SR 45

NEWBERRY, Fla. – A 29-year-old Newberry woman was killed in a head-on crash on SR 45 (also known as U.S. Hwy 27 and U.S. Hwy 41) on Friday night.

According to a release from the Florida Highway Patrol, at about 7:38 p.m. on Friday, a black Ford SUV, driven by a 45-year-old Newberry woman, was traveling south on SR 45 and hit a silver Chevrolet pickup truck, driven by a 29-year-old Newberry woman, that was traveling north on SR 45.

The driver of the pickup truck was taken to an emergency room, where she was pronounced deceased. The driver of the SUV suffered serious injuries. The driver of the pickup truck was not wearing a seatbelt; the driver of the SUV was wearing a seatbelt. The crash is still under investigation.

  • In case anyone else is as bewildered as I am by the location of SR 45, apparently it is equal to US 27 and US 41 between Willison and High Springs

    • SR 45 is the same as US 27/41. This is the same road that travels north and south from Newberry to High Springs and beyond.
