Nicaraguan national arrested for unlawful sexual activity with a juvenile student at Santa Fe College

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Ariel Rafael Vasquez-Martinez, 37, has been charged with sexual assault of a juvenile victim, 16 years of age or older, following an investigation into a report that he had a sexual relationship with a juvenile student at Santa Fe College.

Santa Fe Police Department (SFPD) investigated the case, which began when the victim’s parents reported that they had discovered their daughter was engaged in a sexual relationship with Vasquez-Martinez, who was also a Santa Fe College student at the time. The investigation found that Vasquez-Martinez and the victim had engaged in consensual sexual intercourse on at least three occasions in the fall of 2024 in a vehicle in a parking lot at Santa Fe College.

Evidence collected by SFPD officers included a bracelet, a box of pregnancy tests, and contraceptive pills, all of which were reportedly given to the victim by Vasquez-Martinez.

Post Miranda, Vasquez-Martinez reportedly said he and the juvenile victim were only friends and never had any sexual activity.

A warrant for Vasquez-Martinez’s arrest was issued in January 2025, and he was arrested on October 19, 2025. Alachua Chronicle submitted a public records request to Santa Fe College for the probable cause affidavit the next day; Santa Fe College initially provided a fully-redacted probable cause affidavit (a large black square over nearly the entire document), and we only received the appropriately-redacted copy last week after a protracted back-and-forth discussion about the extent of the statutorily-required redactions.

Vasquez-Martinez has been charged with unlawful sexual activity with a 16- or 17-year-old minor. His full criminal history is unavailable, but according to a court document, he is a citizen of Venezuela who was deemed inadmissible to the United States in 2022. He is being held without bail until trial.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • Oh, I’m sure a certain group of folks that have a kinship with our city and county commissions will protest when ICE comes to take him….

  • Thanks Joey, Thanks Camel, another South American sex offender trespassing. Unfortunely he had to victimize a US child. God only knows what his foreign criminal history entails.

  • SO… If he was inadmissible to the US, How was he enrolled at SF ?? Inquiring minds want to know.

  • When questions are asked, SFC will hide behind student privacy rules. How many other criminals are they harboring?

  • Another damn illegal committing crimes against American citizens yet as you can see on here all the thumbs down it’s probably Democrats who thinks he belongs here instead of taking him to alligator Alcatraz put him in the middle of the swamp and let nature take course overtime

    • Missed your posts about Epstein and his good friend.
I’ll go backstage before a show and everyone’s getting dressed and ready and everything else and no men are anywhere … I’m allowed to go in because I’m the owner of the pageant and therefore I’m inspecting it,’ Trump told Stern.
‘The girls are standing there with no clothes on, and so I sort of get away with things like that,’ he said.

        • Bear…, defending the indefensible.

“I’ve known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy,” Trump told New York magazine in 2002. “He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”

Last week, the Wall Street Journal reported on a birthday message sent bearing Trump’s name for Epstein’s 50th birthday in 2003. According to the Journal, it contained an outline of a naked womanand a typed note that ended with the line: “Happy Birthday—and may every day be another wonderful secret.”

  • We need to raise the voting age of females to post-menopause, so they don’t have “relationships” with guys who have sexy foreign accents (and are illegals) 👺💩🤡👹👿

    • This is the issue, men preying on women …WTF are you talking about?
Our national discussion needs to be about the violence committed in our society, mostly by men, as seen by these grim statistics from the FBI:
      • 89.5% of murders are committed by men.
      • 98.9% of forcible rapes are committed by men.
      • 80% of violence against families and children is committed by men.
      • 85% of intimate partner violence is committed by men.
We must be willing to address the way we raise our boys and young men, so that violence is not a part of their response to this world. Like the recent murders of the Colorado family or the similarly tragic homicide of Kate Steinle, Mollie’s death is further example of the toxic masculinity that exists in our society.

      • You conveniently left out the race and nationality of the felons. Check the FBI crime statistics and maybe the truth will set you free from your liberal bias.
