No Kid Hungry Florida: Celebrating a School Lunch Hero
Letter to the editor
At Lawton Chiles Elementary School, you don’t need a cape and mask to be a superhero. Angela Kelly might not have a secret identity but she understands the critical importance of food safety and diligently protects kids with extreme food allergies.
Angela is valued by her students for more than just meals—she builds trust with them and their families by ensuring allergy-free options are available at lunchtime. Her caring spirit reassures parents, knowing Angela prioritizes their children’s dietary needs.
For her dedication to her students, Angela is one of five state-wide winners being recognized as a 2024 Florida School Lunch Hero. No Kid Hungry Florida is proud to partner with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and the Dairy Council of Florida in presenting these annual awards to our unsung heroes.Â

Join us in celebrating Angela and all the heroes in school cafeterias feeding kids in Alachua County and across our state!

Looking at the childhood obesity crisis in another article, I can only conclude that there needs to be more hungry children.
