No Kid Hungry honors ACPS Director of Food and Nutrition Services Jamie Lovett as Summer Hunger Hero

Press release from No Kid Hungry
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No Kid Hungry has announced this year’s Summer Hunger Heroes, eleven inspiring individuals from nine states who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to ending summer hunger in their communities. These heroes have gone above and beyond to expand summer nutrition programs.
One of the 2025 Summer Hunger Hero honorees is Jamie Lovett, the Director of Food and Nutrition Services for Alachua County Public Schools. Lovett worked hard to establish the rural non-congregate meal program in her county, even as she faced financial constraints and staffing challenges. In its second year of operation, ACPS increased non-congregate summer meals served by 425%, aided by No Kid Hungry grant funding.
Summer has traditionally been the hungriest time of year for kids when fewer families have access to regular school meals. But now, thanks to policy wins that allow for multi-day meal distribution and pick-up in rural communities, and through the hard work of Summer Hunger Heroes like Lovett, summer meals are now reaching more kids than ever before in Florida.
“No Kid Hungry is proud to honor Jamie Lovett for her tireless work to ensure kids in rural communities receive summer meals,” said Sky Beard, No Kid Hungry Florida director. “Her dedication to ensuring every child gets a healthy meal during the summer is inspiring. Jamie has pioneered innovative models, including their farm-to-school initiative, which this year, she integrated into their non-congregate summer meal programs. By working with community partners and listening to the families in her community, she’s been able to expand a small program to reach more kids with the summer nutrition they need.”
No Kid Hungry salutes all our Summer Hunger Heroes and all those who work tirelessly to keep our children nourished and healthy over the summer and throughout the year.

Won’t be around next year under the One Big Beautiful Bill. Sad!
It’s not my job to feed other people’s kids because they are too lazy to work. Sorry, not sorry.
The project is for rural communities and disproportionally benefit red counties and are being cut so Trump’s rich buddies can get another tax cut.
“All told, 60% of the bill’s tax cuts would go to the top 20% of households and more than a third would go to those making $460,000 or more, according to the Tax Policy Center…
The bottom 20% of households — who make less than $14,000 a year — would see their annual incomes fall about $800 in 2027, on average, Yale estimates.
The top 20% — who earn over $128,000 a year — would see theirs grow by $9,700, on average, in 2027. The top 1% would gain $63,000.”

“…Republicans use partisan cues to judge peers’ political knowledge to a greater extent than do Democrats, coinciding with the polarization in the American electorate: “Low-knowledge respondents, strong Republicans, Trump-approving respondents, and self-described conservatives are the most likely to behave like party loyalists by accepting the Trump cue.”4
Richard Fording of the University of Alabama and Sanford Schram of Hunter College in New York reported in 2017 on a study concluding that the Trump campaign exploited a void of facts and reasoning among “low information voters … that made them more vulnerable to relying on emotions about Mexican immigrants, Muslim refugees, and African-American citizens, as well as their disdain for the first African-American President, Barack Obama, … Trump supporters less in a position to want or be able to question Trump’s … campaign of misstatements, untruths, and lies.”5 They noted that in 2016 preference for Trump among those low in political knowledge was 20 per cent higher than among others, yet nothing similar had been found in 2012 about preferences for Republican nominee Mitt Romney.
What we are seeing thus is politically motivated ignorance: the misinformed not only assume that they are informed, but they dismiss anyone challenging their (mis)understanding as being politically motivated and, if anything, become even more convinced of the untruths they believe to be true. Hence Trump’s support has proven effectively unshakable despite revelations of the more than 17,000 false or misleading statements he has uttered in office at the time of this writing, according to fact-checkers (see box 1)…”

Why don’t parents start paying for their children’s food anymore? Why do taxpayers have to do it?.
Congratulations Jamie. Well deserved!!!

Impeach: you are such a communist and a hater…it’s not Trumps’ fault!
It’s the parents job to educate and feed their children.
Don’t breed em if you can’t educate & feed em!
They shouldn’t be bringing children into this world if they can’t take care of them…it’s called personal responsibility… Rubbers are cheap and abortion is legal here.
The state should take the children away from these people who can’t feed or educate their children and place them with a loving responsible family that can.
It takes a village to raise a child is a commi slogan….a nuclear family with a responsible real woman mother (xx) and a responsible real man father (xy) is the way nature intended.
Pink, if you think nuclear families predominated over our long evolutionary development, you’re hallucinating. Like chimps, tribes with communal child rearing was the rule, and so the “community” taking care of the young and the old was the model, not Ozzie and Harriet. Last I looked, those kids will be paying for your SS in your later years, so quit trying to get a free ride.
Jennifer, you have someone here who needs banning for multiple reasons; ranting, off subject, yelling, gross lying.
Thank you, Jen for ALLOWING all folks to post here.
And, to be open minded to allowing various perspectives, comments & food for thought.
Many sites censor either left or right.
Thank you Jen for allowing Freedom of Speech on your site & providing a platform.

The job of public schools is to EDUCATE children, not to be a soup kitchen with free food for all. How much of the ACPS tax money is being used for this non-educational program?
It’s the parents job to feed and get their kids to school. My dad drove & picked me up from school every day. Parents should have to pay for the school bus, not me. The whole school system needs to be reorganized with personal responsibility in mind. Parents need to have some skin in the game, not just property owners…lottery is bad because gambling is a disease. Parents need to pay the full price for their children because it’s their children!
Children are a communal asset Shaq and a lack of them is why we need immigrants to keep our economy humming. We already commit societal resources to help the aged – younger generations pay into SS keeps it going for them – and to the young. You’re dreaming if you think this is new or violates some basic rule of how we humans not only live, but thrive.
Communal Aka communist…
Jazz, your a pig.
“Immigration is driving U.S. population growth and helping offset a broader demographic shift as the baby boom generation ages, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau.
U.S. children outnumber older adults, but older adults’ share of the population is growing, the census data released Thursday shows.
From 2023 to 2024, the number of Americans 65 and older climbed by 3.1 percent while the population under 18 declined by 0.2 percent. There are more older adults than children in nearly half of U.S. counties, and the pattern is particularly strong in sparsely populated areas, the bureau said….”

In other words, Trump’s constituents.
“Over the past decade, the world’s richest 1 percent have increased their wealth by at least $33.9 trillion, according to a new analysis from the global anti-poverty group Oxfam International.
That amount is “more than enough to eliminate annual poverty 22 times over” when calculating at the World Bank’s highest poverty line of $8.30 per day, the group said in a news release which also called for governments to invest in state-led development and to tax the ultrarich, among other requests.
Billionaires alone — about 3,000 people worldwide, the overwhelming majority of whom are men — have gained $6.5 trillion since 2015, according to the report, which was released ahead of an international conference in Spain on development financing.
“This immense concentration of wealth has translated to political power, in a movement towards oligarchy that sees ultra-wealthy individuals able to shape political and economic decision-making in ways that increase their wealth,” Oxfam said in its briefing paper, titled “From Private Profit to Public Power: Financing Development, Not Oligarchy.”
