NW 39th Avenue (State Road 222) resurfacing and intersection improvements project begins next week

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Construction is scheduled to begin next week on a project to resurface State Road 222 (NW 39th Avenue) from east of Northwest 40th Terrace to Northwest 24th Boulevard and construct intersection improvements at State Road 222 and State Road 25 (U.S. 441/Southwest 13th Street).
Preferred Materials Inc. was awarded the contract to complete this $4.9 million contract, which includes milling and resurfacing, intersection improvements, sidewalk, curb and gutters, traffic signals, highway signing, and other incidental construction.
Drivers can expect lane closures and flagging operations between 8:00 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. seven days a week. Drivers may also expect to see law enforcement performing traffic control at intersections during overnight operations.
Completion is expected in winter 2026, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.

Remember when they resurfaced 43rd near 8th and also 34th in front of the wall? They left dangerous depressions in the roads around the manhole covers in the partially completed project for months. Lets see how long this one takes.
