One adult on school bus transported with minor injuries after morning accident

Staff report

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – One adult was transported to the hospital with minor injuries after a sedan hit a school bus this morning in Jonesville.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report and a social media post from Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, the black sedan shown above was traveling eastbound on Newberry Road, west of NW 143rd Street, at about 7:45 a.m. when it veered into the westbound lane and hit the left rear side of a vehicle traveling in the westbound direction. The school bus was traveling behind the first car that was hit, and the sedan also hit the school bus on its left rear side.

The school bus was transporting nine special needs students, and none of them were injured in the crash. One adult passenger from the school bus was transported with minor injuries.

The driver of the sedan was a 20-year-old man; his city of residence is not listed in the report, which said he was not injured. The car that was hit first was driven by a 37-year-old woman from Gainesville, who was also uninjured. The school bus was driven by a 41-year-old Gainesville man. Information about the adult passenger on the school bus was not provided.

  • There is no sane excuse for veering across a four lane highway with a 12′ median. Even blowout wont cause the car to behave like this.

  • Put the phone down and look out the windshield people!
Another fine mess you’ve gotten us into Ollie 😉
