One Gainesville woman dead, one seriously injured after single-vehicle rollover near Monteocha

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – A 33-year-old Gainesville woman was killed and a 23-year-old Gainesville woman was seriously injured this morning in a rollover accident in the Monteocha area.

At about 10 a.m. this morning, a red Mitsubishi Eclipse was traveling north on NE 21st Street near NE 181st Place when it traveled off the east shoulder of the roadway for unknown reasons. The vehicle overturned, killing one woman and seriously injuring the other. The second occupant was transported by ShandsCair via helicopter with life-threatening injuries.

Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident and is unable at this time to determine which occupant was driving at the time of the accident.
