One killed, five seriously injured in crash near Boulware Springs Park

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A 35-year-old Gainesville woman was killed and five others were seriously injured in a Wednesday night crash near Boulware Springs Park.
According to a release from the Florida Highway Patrol, at about 8:30 p.m. on May 13, the 35-year-old woman was attempting to turn left out of Boulware Springs Park when a sedan driven by an 18-year-old Gainesville man, traveling southbound on SE 15th Street, hit the woman’s sedan. The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.
The 18-year-old man, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was seriously injured, and two female and two male passengers in his car (no ages listed) who were wearing seatbelts were also seriously injured.
County road 2043 (SE 15th St/Kincaid loop) is probably the most dangerous road in the county. How many more fatalities must occur before this area is included in the county’s Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Action Plan?
Me thinks excessive speed was involved.
