One killed, one critically injured in motorcycle crash on CR 231

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – An Ohio man was killed this afternoon and an Ohio woman was critically injured in a motorcycle accident on CR 231.

According to a release from the Florida Highway Patrol, at about 2:15 p.m. on October 22, the 67-year-old man from Mentor, Ohio, was driving the motorcycle southbound on CR 231 near CR 235 when the motorcycle drifted off the right shoulder and overturned. Both the driver and his 74-year-old female passenger, also from Mentor, were ejected from the motorcycle. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene, and the passenger was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

The release states that the woman was wearing a helmet, but it is unknown whether the man was wearing a helmet.
