Staff report from Gainesville Fire Department post

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – One person was extricated this morning from a car that crashed into a building at 1800 N. Main Street.

At about 6:40 a.m. on November 26, Gainesville Fire Rescue (GFR) crews responded to a report of a car that crashed into a building. Crews confirmed that one person was injured and extricated the patient from the car.

GFR’s Light Technical Rescue Team shored up the building for safety. GFR’s specialty teams have their own advanced medical care protocols and respond to approximately 568 special hazard calls each year to keep our community safe.

  • Idiots.. who the heck drives into a building…on second thought, drive through insurance services may become a thing!

  • Exterior support column
    Medical emergency?

    Steering knuckle broke?

    It’s OK your alive 🦃

  • Hope everyone’s all right. This was bound to happen… they keep bringing roads and buildings closer and closer, while turning the roads into Putt-Putt obstacle courses.

Their stated logic is, “These are traffic calming measures, people will slow down” which, like most of their assumptions, is true until it isn’t.

    • It’s statistical tendencies anonymous. Drivers tend to drive at a speed which feels safe to them, regardless of the posted speed, unless it’s known speed trap. Narrowing traffic lanes -however done – does work to calm traffic and discourage speeding. You might note the the old buildings along University and Main are close to the street and have somehow survived 100 years of traffic.

      • Get the panhandlers away from the road. It’s a safety hazzard.

There’s was a crazy guy with a knife & a dog in the median that tried to kill a lady.

Time for operation warp speed and zero tolerance on panhandling.

If you don’t like what I say, then have the vagrant move in with you.

  • Once again, our unsung heroes saving lives, even shore up buildings. These guys are just the best, I have so much respect for Firemen, Paramedics, EMT’s, and Police. They do what they do, so we don’t have to.
