According to a release from the Florida Highway Patrol, at about 1:03 p.m. on November 26, the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on SW 45th Street, north of Archer Road; he failed to negotiate a curve and traveled onto the median, where the motorcycle ran over several shrubs before colliding with a light pole. The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The report does not indicate whether the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.

The crash is being investigated by the Florida Highway Patrol.

  • Just the other day, a rider went into the turning lane to avoid the straight through lanes, looked left and right and then sped through the intersection without stopping. Holidays – bad time to lose a family member. If he fits the mold of many I’ve seen and heard in and about town, he was likely traveling at a high rate of speed.

    Unfortunately, now he’s a 👻 rider.

    • My favorite is when everyone is stopped and the motorcyclist goes thru the middle of the two lanes of traffic.

Either way RIP to the young man. Gone too young.

    • Last Tuesday, a idiot on a motorcycle was doing a wheelie going down archer Road close to celebration point these riders think they can do anything they want to

  • I live on SW 45th. Yes motorcycles are a problem on our street, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. It’s like a race track. Not surprised by this occident.
