One person transported to hospital after car flips on 301 near Waldo
Press release from Alachua County Fire Rescue
WALDO, Fla. – In the early morning hours of December 2, crews from Alachua County Fire Rescue, Melrose Fire Department, the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, and the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle accident on NE US Highway 301, just south of Waldo. The vehicle left the roadway and flipped multiple times, incurring significant damage before coming to rest against a large oak tree. The driver was transported to a local trauma center in serious but stable condition. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Alachua County Fire Rescue would like to remind everyone to use caution while driving and always avoid downed power lines.
As a Waldo resident, I would like to remind everyone to SLOW DOWN. Many properties have been damaged multiple times due to drivers not obeying the speed limit and coming around the turn. Also, loss of life is not worth the 5 minutes time you think you are saving by speeding.
As an individual who use to live in Waldo it is VERY smart to slow down indeed like Michele said! Granted there are no police there anymore so no speed trap. However as someone who has friends and family in Waldo please slow down! I don’t want to get any more phone calls from the family and friends of another person I know dead because someone else hit them and killed them. This is getting really ridiculous and out of hand!
