One suspect arrested in attempted home invasion robbery at The Crossing at Santa Fe apartments

Christopher Nicholas Butt, 20, of Oxford, FL, was arrested early this morning following a report of an attempted home invasion robbery at The Crossing at Santa Fe Apartments.

According to the arrest report, an Alachua County Sheriff’s deputy responded to the apartment complex at 2:17 a.m. following a 911 call about an attempted burglary. The caller said there were two suspects knocking on his door, ringing the doorbell, and jiggling the door handle.

The deputy found Butt standing in front of the caller’s apartment upon his arrival, and Butt allegedly began running but stopped after the deputy issued a command to stop. When Butt was detained, he reportedly nodded his head toward his waistband, where the deputy found a revolver with a scratched-off serial number. The deputy wrote that Butt does not have a concealed carry permit.

Post Miranda, Butt reportedly admitted to being there to “hit” the apartment.

Butt has been charged with armed attempted home invasion robbery, carrying a concealed firearm without a permit, removing the serial number from a firearm, and using a firearm during commission of a felony. He is being held on $400,000 bond.

Investigators are trying to positively identify other potential suspects.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • OK why’d he get $400k bail when the actual home invader from Trenton only got $80k?

  • This really saddens me

    Real scumbag

    • You must feel really good calling this kid names. You know nothing about him. Did he do something bad… yes. Does he deserve punishment… yes but he IS NOT a scumbag. He got messed up in the wrong crowd and his family is heartbroken. So keep your comments to yourself.
