Staff report

ALACHUA, Fla. – One person was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after an RV ended up in the woods on I-75 yesterday.

At about 3:45 p.m. on October 12, the RV, which was driven by a 23-year-old woman from Whiteburg, KY, was traveling southbound near the 395 mile marker on I-75 when the left front tire failed, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The RV traveled onto the west shoulder and into the woods; a Lincoln MKX that was being towed was also damaged in the accident. The driver was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

  • The young woman is my daughter! I first praise God for seeing her through this horrible accident, that could’ve been so much worse! I want to thank the ones who stopped to help her and be with her until emergency responders arrived!

  • Where is the RV now? Can you search it or put a live trap with food in it? At least make sure there’s water. Kitty is probably hiding in it. I travel with kitties and they get in the craziest hidey holes. My husband even built blocking boards to keep them from under the dash and behind slides. I’m glad the driver wasn’t seriously injured.
