One week away: Voter registration deadline for 2021 City of Gainesville Regular Election

Press release from Alachua County Supervisor of Elections

The voter registration deadline for the 2021 City of Gainesville Regular Election is Feb. 16, one week from today.

Registered voters who reside within Gainesville’s city limits are able to vote in this election, which will be held March 16. The election is for District 1 and At-Large Seat B. All voters are eligible to vote in the At-Large Seat B contest, while only those who live in District 1 can vote in that contest.

A detailed map of all City of Gainesville Commission districts can be found at https://goo.gl/8Eeg24.

Previously registered voters are encouraged to verify and, if needed, update their voter registrations. This can be done at https://www.votealachua.com/My-Registration-Status or by calling 352-374-5252.

There are numerous ways for prospective voters to register:

  • Online: The online voter registration portal — found at RegisterToVoteFlorida.gov — is a safe and secure option for voter registration.
  • In person: The Alachua County Supervisor of Elections’ office, located in Gainesville at 515 N. Main St., Suite 300, is open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Registrations can also be completed and turned in at any Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles office or Alachua County Library District branch.
  • After hours: The Alachua County Supervisor of Elections’ office has a secure, white after-hours drop box outside its main entrance. Completed forms received through the drop box by 11:59 p.m. Feb. 16 will be accepted.
  • By mail: Forms are available online at VoteAlachua.com. Mailed forms must be completed and postmarked by the Feb. 16 deadline.

For more information, contact the Supervisor of Elections at 352-374-5252.

  • Hmmmm…wonder if potential voters will be turned away if they don’t bring their paperwork in the prescribed time or if they will be turned away depending on their “color?”
