Pair arrested after nightclub patron said a man threatened him with a gun

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Juan Pozada Zepeda, 31, of Honduras, and Jose Torres Vazquez, 32, of Mexico, were arrested early this morning after Pozada Zepeda allegedly threatened a patron of The Loft with a gun and Torres Vazquez allegedly punched the victim.
At about 12:28 a.m. on July 5, Gainesville Police Department officers responded to The Loft (11 SW 1st Street), where the victim said he had been inside the nightclub when Pozada Zepeda shoved him on his way to the bathroom. He said the shove caused him to fall backward, but he continued to the bathroom, and when he came out, he found Pozada Zepeda waiting for him.
The victim said Pozada Zepeda started arguing with him, and during the argument, Pozada Zepeda pulled a semi-automatic handgun from his pants and pointed it at him; he said Pozada Zepeda racked the slide and said, “I will kill you.”
The victim said he raised his hands and started to back away, but Torres Vazquez and an unknown man punched him three times in the chest. At that point, three witnesses intervened, stopping the altercation.
An officer reported that all of the witnesses saw the entire incident, and security guards at The Loft also stepped in and escorted Pozada Zepeda out of the nightclub. When officers arrived, several bystanders and witnesses pointed them toward Pozada Zepeda and Torres Vazquez, but the gun was not found, and officers speculated that Pozada Zepeda had passed it to an unknown person before they arrived.
Post Miranda, Pozada Zepeda reportedly said that he had gotten into a verbal argument with the victim in the bathroom and that the victim had pushed him first. He said he never had a firearm, and no firearm was involved in the incident, but a search incident to arrest reportedly produced nine .45 caliber live rounds in his pants pocket. When an officer asked about the bullets, Pozada Zepeda reportedly stated again that he never had a gun.
Pozada Zepeda did not have any identification and reportedly said he was in this country illegally; the arresting officer wrote that there was no way to confirm his identification at the time.
Post Miranda, Torres Vazquez reportedly declined to answer any questions; he was identified by his Mexican ID card.
Pozada Zepeda, who is described as homeless on his arrest report, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His criminal history is currently unavailable; Judge David Kreider ordered him held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s office to hold him without bail until trial; if the judge denies the motion, bail will be set at that hearing.
Torres Vazquez, who is described as homeless on his arrest report, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery. His criminal history is currently unavailable; Judge Kreider set bail at $110,000.

Where they at? Hopefully ICE came and got them or maybe some liberal commie judge RORed them because they knew ICE was coming and now they’re free to commit more crimes. we need a follow up to this story.
I stand corrected forgot they’re Hispanic last names and their middle name is what they’re booked under. But it’s total plausible some GSSR judge would ROR them before ICE gets there.

Everyone favors arresting criminal illegals (and criminal legals). Due process is how that is determined and what separates a constitutional government from a police state.
If ICE practiced this, including identifying themselves and not wearing masks, and notified relatives and legal representation where suspects were taken, as well as not having as many as 1/2 of their arrests with no criminal allegations or record, we’d all be on board. The immigration bill Trump had Republicans kill after they wrote it last fall increased ICE agents (their union supported the bill along with Biden and almost all democrats) as well as border agents and judges to more quickly process applications.
PS Immigrants here – legal and illegal – have lower crime rates than native born Americans. It is ignorant and racist to characterize a population as equal to it’s worst members, or are we aryan men at heart just more Ted Bundys and Jeffery Dahmers.
Every illegal immigrant is a criminal, by definition – they entered the country illegally, a crime. Also, in Florida, where illegal immigrants can’t get a driver’s license, they commit a crime every single time they drive. Every time. They’re usually only caught when they are obviously impaired, but they still commit multiple crimes EVERY SINGLE DAY.
Paula, not all immgrants not granted citizenship are here illegally. Many are awaiting asylum hearings, many for a long time because we have not properly staffed both ICE and border agents/judges (that was addressed in the immigration bill Trump killed last fall). In fact the latest trick employed by ICE, who Trump and the GOP said were after violent criminals, is showing up at hearings and grabbing immigrants there peacably and in compliance with immigration authorities.
Trump did not run on deporting all illegal immigrants though it is true that he sold the idea that they were almost all violent criminals. If we now want him to do that – and very doubtful most Americans do – get ready for hard working people with families to be ripped apart in your neighborhood and city, and for our short handed country – native Americans do not reproduce in numbers necessary to keep care for our elderly, clean our businesses and some homes, build new apartments, houses, and shopping centers, enlist in our military, and most importantly, to keep our national economy humming – to not suffer the manpower shortages.
We are incredibly lucky that our 2 neighboring countries are full of easy going and productive Canadians and hard working Mexicans, many of whom want to live and work here, for the same reason many of our ancestors willfully crossed the Atlantic. Yes, arrest criminals of all types including immigrants, but do it the American way, not the Bannana Republic and Nazi way.
