GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Terrell Durr, 27, and Daniel Lawayne Jones, 33, were arrested yesterday morning after an officer investigating the theft of a car allegedly found them sitting in the car.

At about 8:30 a.m. on March 21, the car’s owner reported that her credit card and car key had been stolen from inside her car, which had been parked overnight at Arbor Apartments. She also reported that her credit card had been used at the Phoenix Super Food Store that morning. The next morning (March 22) at 6:30 a.m., she reported that her car had been stolen overnight.

At about 8:45 a.m. on March 22, a Gainesville Police Department officer saw the car parked at Pavilion Apartments and detained Durr, who was reportedly in the driver’s seat. The car key was reportedly found near Durr inside the car.

Post Miranda, Durr reportedly said he had gotten the car from a friend that morning and had driven it to its current location. He also reportedly admitted that he had used the victim’s credit card the previous day. He allegedly identified himself as Dekoven Q. Barber, which was later determined to be a false name.

Jones was reportedly sitting in the right rear passenger seat, and officers ordered him to get out of the car and get on the ground. After officers handcuffed him and placed him in a patrol vehicle, they found a .380 handgun in front of the right rear passenger tire, next to Jones; officers reported that no handgun had been there when they approached the car.

Post Miranda, Jones reportedly admitted the gun was in his pocket when officers contacted him.

Durr has been charged with grand theft of a vehicle and providing false identification information to an officer. He has six local felony convictions and nine misdemeanor convictions, none violent. His bail information has not been posted.

Jones has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He has six felony convictions and 15 misdemeanor convictions, none violent; most are for drugs, burglary, or theft. Judge Thomas Jaworski set bail at $15,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • Same thugs keep committing crimes in blue cities.. they get a free card by the liberal criminal lover gainesville judges

  • Six felony convictions each. Possession of a handgun by a felon and bail set at $15,000 of which he only has to post $1500 to get out and commit more felonies……and repeat. Where did he get the gun? How did he get the gun??? Bail should have been no less than $250,000. Being liberal is the problem.

    • Watch it that’s my cousin you don’t know the situation. Period he has the gun for a rain STFU

      • no one cares. he stole the car from my friend. YOU don’t know the situation he put her through.

  • $15,000 bail for possession of a gun by a convicted felon. Yeah, that’ll stop the gun violence. Not.

  • F & Fs again…like P & J sandwiches, biscuits and gravy, macaroni and cheese,…
In Gainesville, as in most DemoRundown cities, look for one and you’ll probably find the other.

Careful, you never know who is sitting in the car next to you. Just like having insurance, you best be prepared, if legally able, to protect your family and property.

  • Jaworski: you are going to let a comvicted felon with a gun out by giving Rodney Long $1500? If you or your family were the victim of his shooting, I hope you wish you would have said $100,000 bond. These convicted felons need to have the fear of god in them if they get caught with a gun. $100,000 bond and 5 years in prison mandatory. We need guys like this locked up to protect the public. Next time he gets caught with a gun a shoots someone, we should hold you liable.

  • Now if the cops had killed them, BLM would have another cash cow.

  • WTF only $15,000 bail for felony handgun possessors now? I thought this was Wokeville and blaming guns was the norm here. Maybe the judge couldn’t figure how to make the gun pay, it would’ve been higher?
