Pair charged with aggravated battery with bodily injury
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Toderick Jacquez Franks, 30, and Faviana Lashay Lee, 27, were arrested yesterday and charged with aggravated battery with bodily injury after a dispute with another couple.
Franks and Lee reportedly met with the victims to do a custody exchange yesterday afternoon, and Franks and the male victim began arguing. Franks allegedly hit the victim in the chin and on the forehead with a gun, and Lee allegedly began hitting and scratching the female victim. After the victims saw that Franks had a gun, they got into their car and called 911.
Responding medical personnel reported that the female victim had a dislocated shoulder and lacerations across her forehead and arm.
Gainesville Police Department officers reportedly made contact with Franks and Lee at their residence, where Franks gave consent for officers to enter the home. Officers reportedly found two handguns in the residence, and Franks reportedly declined to answer any questions.
Franks has two felony convictions (none violent) and one misdemeanor conviction (none violent). He has a pending misdemeanor charge in Dade County for a concealed weapon violation. Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $50,000.
Lee has juvenile convictions but no adult criminal convictions; she has two pending cases with two counts of driving without a valid license and one count of no motor vehicle registration. Judge Miller-Jones set bail at $50,000.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.Â
Convicted felon (twice), attacked someone with a gun and no gun charges and a mere $50,000 bail? Something is wrong here. And with a misdemeanor charge pending for another gun violation? Maybe someone who can read will help the confused Democrats understand why we are having gun violence problems.
My first thought. Just read a few days ago shootings in G’ville have doubled this year.
It was during a custody exchange as well, so there was a minor child present while this pistol-whipping beatdown was happening.
I’m so used to seeing $2,000 bail or RoR that $50k actually seems almost reasonable by comparison.
Really teaching the kid(s) how to settle problems
Now that’s some SMUG MUGS. The children must be so proud.
So much for those handoffs. I think the victims just made a great case for primary custody. I must admit I’m a little surprised, (and happy), given current norms that there were two potential male parents playing a role in the parenting but in this case, we’re back to one. Thankfully the “good” one, we hope, will set a better example than the idiots who were arrested.
Whew, glad got that out. As far as the rest of us, be prepared, (if legally able), even something as innocent as the simple transfer of child to parent may expose you to these types of risks to yourself or your family. Don’t be the victim.
These two look ‘proud’ of their ‘accomplishments’.
First off none of y’all know the situation so how and why speak on something you know nothing about was you there no you weren’t that is someone’s children that your running your mouths about!!
Who be gettin arrested? Hmm? We allowed to have an opinion. Feel bad for the kids.
Was you there? Please share you insight.
They don’t know nothing either. Just angry.
