Pedestrian killed in Waldo Road crash

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A 50-year-old man was killed this morning when he walked into the path of a car on Waldo Road, according to a Florida Highway Patrol release.

At about 6 a.m. on May 20, a 34-year-old Gainesville woman was driving northeast in the left lane on NE Waldo Road (SR 24) near NE 57th Street when the pedestrian tried to cross the road in front of her car. The release states that the pedestrian failed to yield the right-of-way to the car and was fatally injured.

The release also notes that there are no lights in the area, and the pedestrian was not wearing reflective or high-visibility clothing.

The pedestrian’s address is listed as St. Augustine.
