Staff report from Alachua County Fire Rescue post
WALDO, Fla. – Alachua County Fire Rescue units responded this morning to a residential fire on Kennard Street in Waldo; as of 4:30 p.m., one southbound lane on Waldo Road is open. The Melrose and Windsor Fire Departments assisted in the response.
At about 9 a.m., firefighters responded swiftly to a residential structure fire on Kennard Street, and the first unit encountered a two-story house fully engulfed in flames, with heavy fire on the second floor.
The team quickly adopted an offensive mode with a defensive strategy to combat the intense blaze, particularly on the front side of the structure. In addition to the fire, power lines were also ignited, complicating the situation.
All occupants were able to exit the structure. As of 4 p.m., the fire was out and was determined by the Fire Marshal to have been caused by a space heater.
Meth heads. Last week the lady was painting a wooden Christmas tree in the rain in the dark @ 6:00 the morning. After Christmas. 😂 Tweakers.
Yeah that lady is shot out for sure. Hate somebody lost their home and belongings but I am glad to see that eyesore go up in flames.
prayers for those involved . Never good news to hear this , but glad the occupant was saved , except for a pet dog, so I heard . And thanks to the bystander who rushed in to help before the FD arrived.
The person in the home is a SQUATER!! A court date was set for tomorrow to have her evicted by the heir of the estate of the man that owned the home. The timing of this fire is very suspect. That home has a ton of history dating back more than 100 years. Sad to see it destroyed!
She should be charged. She’s been arrested a dozen times, she needs to stay in jail and get clean or she ain’t gonna make it. She’s 41 and looks 71, shaved her head, no teeth.
I agree with you on all counts. Sounds like arson. What angers me most is that, if it was arson, the squatter put her dogs lives in danger and one lost their life in a horrible way because of it. She needs to be charged with animal cruelty as well as the arson and the 2 remaining dogs need to be taken away from her. I remember when that house was an antique shop about 20 or so years ago. I always thought it was a beautiful, sad house that needed to be restored.
As always, firefighters doing their dangerous job with courage. God bless every one of them. They are true heroes.
The young woman who pulled her out had courage, She’s the hero!
She sure is.
