Press release from Alachua County Fire Rescue
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Alachua County Fire Rescue responded to a technical rescue call at Sparrow Apartments yesterday at about 6 p.m. Crews were called to rescue a maintenance worker who passed out on the roof of a two-story apartment building.
Upon arrival, the ACFR Technical Rescue Team reached the patient and identified his inability to climb down under his own power. Crews utilized rope rescue techniques to package and lower the patient to the awaiting ambulance for transport to a local hospital.
The ACFR Tech Rescue Team consists of crew members who are specially trained in five specific rescue disciplines including rope rescue. Heavy Rescue 23 and Quint 23 are the designated Tech Rescue apparatuses within ACFR.

It is hot and working on a roof or in an attic is really tough. Kudos to construction workers. And thanks to fire rescue.
Always there to “save the day” these unsung heroes: firemen, rescue and police. Thank you all and God bless you.
