PHOTOS: Crews extricate occupant from car after crash on CR 219A
Staff report
HAWTHORNE, Fla. – One person was extricated from a car and multiple patients were transported to a local hospital this evening after a two-vehicle crash north of Hawthorne.
At about 5:30 p.m. on January 10, units from Alachua County Fire Rescue, the Windsor Fire Department, and the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of County Road 219A and County Road 1474.
An occupant of one vehicle was trapped and had to be removed using hydraulic rescue tools, commonly referred to as the Jaws of Life; Fire Rescue crews remove the occupant quickly and safely and transported injured parties to a local hospital.
The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. Alachua County Fire Rescue would like to remind everyone to slow down and move over for emergency vehicles.

There is great visibility from all direction at that intersection. Additionally, there are annoying rumble strips on 1474. No excuses. I do hope the not at fault driver was not injured.
Horrible. Prayers for all.
