Photos: GFR crews prevent commercial fire from spreading
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Early this morning, Gainesville Fire Rescue crews responded to a commercial building fire in the 200 block of SW 2nd Avenue and quickly brought the fire under control.
At about 5:30 a.m., crews arrived to find flames on the exterior of a commercial building; after bringing the fire under control, they conducted search efforts and prevented the fire from spreading into the structure. The fire appears to have originated from an exterior porch area. No injuries were reported, and the fire remains under investigation.
GFR reminds the public that the City and Alachua County are currently under a burn ban. Extremely cold and dry conditions increase the risk of fire. Please avoid open burning and use caution.
