Photos: Linton Oaks fire confined to the kitchen

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – At 2:00 p.m. on April 21, crews from Alachua County Fire Rescue and Gainesville Fire Rescue were dispatched to a report of a building fire on SW 61st Street in Linton Oaks. Crews arrived on scene to find smoke coming out of the front door of the two-story apartment. They located the fire in the kitchen and were able to extinguish it within minutes of arriving on scene.
The fire was contained to the kitchen, but there was smoke damage to the remainder of the apartment. No one was inside at the time of the fire, and no one was injured. The Red Cross was contacted to aid the residents of the apartment.
Correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t that a handgun on the second shelf of that shelving unit by the door in the bottom picture (next to the blue plastic bag)…? And there is an IV bag in that photo, also…? Odd assortment of items….
