PHOTOS: One person transported to hospital after residential fire; suspect in custody for arson

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – One person was transported to the hospital this morning and three people were displaced after a residential fire in the northeast part of Gainesville; a suspect was arrested after the initial investigation found that the cause of the fire was probably arson.

At about 9:25 a.m. on January 20, Gainesville Fire Rescue crews responded to a residential fire in the 2100 block of NE 16th Terrace and brought the fire under control within 10 minutes.

One person was transported to the hospital, and three people have been displaced; the Red Cross is assisting the displaced individuals.

Gainesville Police Department reportedly took a suspect into custody after the initial investigation found that the cause of the fire was probably arson.
