GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Law enforcement responded to the Florida Museum of Natural History at the Cultural Plaza at the University of Florida after a 911 call came in at about 3:20 p.m. this afternoon. The caller, who sounded like a young man, said he was armed with a rifle and pipe bombs and that he was going inside the museum to cause harm.
Officers immediately responded to the museum and quickly determined that there was no active threat. After other areas of campus were checked, officers determined that the call was likely a hoax.
Perfect example of something that’s both a good thing and a bad thing at the same time.
Should we make a call about those masquerading as leaders downtown?
Been there, done that. Seems most aren’t going to believe it until the dike bursts or they get eaten by the wolf.
Kudos to law enforcement for their quick response.
This is not at all what the UF alert sent to students and staff said. Did UF lie, try to downplay the situation, or what?
