This is a direct result of the SOE lawsuit vs. Gateway Christian Center. 13 precinct location changes; 10 were churches.
You mean when Democrat Supervisor of Elections Kim Barton tripped in the church doing official election business (her job) and sued the church for her own negligence, instead using workman’s comp, like us ordinary people?
Have to wonder if high-heels are approved footwear for government field operations.
Lets see…
Fl Museum of Natural History–closed for major renovations…
Alachua County Agriculture & Equestrian Center–moved to a CHURCH! (is there possibly a scheduling conflict with a major event? when is the county fair?)
CSI Academy of Florida–don’t know about this one, are they still in business even?
Of the 10 churches that pulled out 3 were replaced by, you guessed it, CHRUCHES!
Is the the lawyered up, looking for a place to sue joke of a supervisor of woke elections allowed on your property? Be careful
So all these churches withdrew hosting polling stations because of a lawsuit (was it a friendly suit or adversarial?)
OR…
they’ve got issues with items on the ballot and feel their hosting is somehow an endorsement of those items?
Hint: if it’s a lawsuit thing then why aren’t ALL churches running away rather than some of the more conservative denominations?
Adversarial and mostly Baptist churches.
These last minute changes are only going to cause problems for many voters in all districts. I have experienced voter confusion when I worked as a assistant clerk in precinct 60. As a candidate, I work very hard to get out the vote. Now I have to spend extra effort to make sure my supporters know where to go. It is actions like these that cause voters to loose faith in the process. And I haven’t even factored in the lawsuit.
Our church, North Gainesville Baptist Church also stopped being a polling place because our current election superintendent sued a church and then lied about the reason for going to the church when she fell. Furthermore, she would not sign an agreement that if an accident did happen on our property, we would not be sued.
Oh now it makes sense. She moved our precinct to Santa Fe college. Try and get a parking place there If i hadn’t had a handicapped sticker [which i still had to park a good ways a way} also no signs to find room where it was .. Very bad decision . It will keep people away. I sent her an e-mail stating that.
