Pop Warner Cheer teams win awards at Regionals
Press release from Pop Warner Cheer and Football
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The City of Gainesville Pop Warner Cheer and Football carried through with their season despite budget restrictions. This cheer season had a few firsts, indeed. The City of Gainesville welcomed their first, ever, Pom dance team with seven Tiny Mites athletes. Tiny Mites are aged 5-6 years old. Due to budget cuts, the program relied on donations from other community programs to meet their needs.
In addition, this season welcomed six teams with 57 athletes; four teams advanced to Regionals competition, and three of those four teams made the journey to Regionals. The competition was held Friday morning through Sunday afternoon, November 24 through 26, 2023.
Five athletes of the Tiny Mites claimed the first win of the weekend, with 1st place in their Tiny Mites Pom division on Saturday. This team is coached by Nardley Docteur.
