Press release from David Arreola for Florida House District 22

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After being endorsed by numerous prominent elected leaders, Democratic candidate for Florida House District 22 and former two-term Gainesville City Commissioner David Arreola released the following statement:

“At a time when our communities’ freedom to determine their futures is under attack from MAGA Republicans in Tallahassee, I am proud to be endorsed by strong local leaders like former Gainesville Mayor Lauren Poe, Gainesville City Commissioners Casey Willits and Bryan Eastman, former Gainesville City Commissioners Helen Warren and Adrian Hayes-Santos, Hawthorne Mayor Jacquelyn Randall, and Chiefland City Commissioner LaWanda Jones.

“With the backing of these powerful community leaders, I look forward to serving alongside Representative Yvonne Hayes Hinson and continuing the legacy of outgoing Representative Joe Geller, both of whom have endorsed my candidacy. As our campaign to flip Florida House District 22 ramps up, I am humbled to earn their support.”

In support of David Arreola’s campaign to represent Florida House District 22, elected officials provided the following statements:

“With his long history of public service and proven progressive track record, former two-term Gainesville City Commissioner David Arreola is the strongest Democratic candidate to flip Florida House District 22 blue this November. Winning House District 22 is critical for holding Governor Ron DeSantis and the MAGA Republican legislature accountable for their political extremism and restoring decency to Tallahassee. Unlike his far-right opponents, David shares our community’s commitment to advancing common-sense gun safety reform, making Florida affordable, and defending reproductive freedom. In the race for state representative in House District 22, David Arreola has earned my full support and he deserves your vote.” – Representative Yvonne Hayes Hinson

“David Arreola is a dedicated public servant committed to the issues that matter most to the residents of House District 22: public health and safety, reproductive rights, and an economy that works for everybody. David’s experience on the Gainesville City Commission has shown that he is in touch with the real issues facing Florida voters, and he is ready to take action and make a change.” – Former Gainesville Mayor Lauren Poe

“After serving years on the Gainesville City Commission with David Arreola, I enthusiastically endorse him to represent the people of Florida House District 22. I know that he will confront our state’s most pressing issues as an informed representative and work to advance our community’s shared values.” – Former Gainesville City Commissioner Helen Warren
