Putnam County sexual offender arrested for indecent exposure to pedestrian on NW 39th Avenue

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Ramon Antonio Garcia-Gonzalez, 58, of Interlachen, was arrested yesterday for allegedly exposing himself as he drove next to a pedestrian on NW 39th Avenue.

At about 11:30 a.m. on April 13, a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to the 400 block of NW 39th Avenue, where the victim said he was walking home from work when a man drove past and honked. He said the man made a U-turn and drove next to him, and he saw that the man’s genitals were exposed and the man was masturbating while making eye contact with him.

The officer reported that Garcia-Gonzalez had white residue on his shorts and in his right pocket.

Post Miranda, Garcia-Gonzalez reportedly said he lives in Interlachen and does not stay in Gainesville, and he was “killing time driving around for pleasure.” He said he waved to the victim with all of his windows down, and he did not touch his genitals. He said he was right-handed; he reportedly could not explain the white marks on his shorts.

Garcia-Gonzalez has been charged with indecent exposure. He is a registered sexual offender who was convicted of lewd/lascivious molestation of a victim under the age of 16 in a 2010 case in Putnam County; he served an 18-month prison sentence and was released in 2012. Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $10,000.
