Registered sex offender sentenced for fraudulent voting

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Derrick Albert Robinson, 55, one of nine sexual offenders referred for prosecution by Supervisor of Elections Kim Barton for fraudulent voting in the 2020 election, has been sentenced to three years in state prison.
Robinson was convicted of lewd or lascivious behavior on a victim between the ages of 12 and 16 in 2011 and convicted of failure to comply with registration in 2016. He is currently serving two concurrent sentences on drug charges out of Alachua and Marion Counties, and his release date was previously set for January 2025.
As a registered sex offender, Robinson is ineligible to vote, but he registered to vote on June 29, 2020, and voted by mail in the 2020 General Election. After he learned that charges had been filed for fraudulent voting, he sent a letter to Judge James Colaw in April 2023, asking for a public defender so he could “get the above case over with before coming home.”
Robinson entered a plea of nolo contendere to false swearing on a voter registration application and voting by an unqualified voter in exchange for 3 years in state prison, concurrent with his pre-existing sentences. The sentence extends his time in prison to April 2026.

I’m not defending this guy one bit, but the state attorney should charge Kim Barton for her crimes against the inmates and add up all the jail time, prison time, and the probation time and have her serve that time, jail, prison, and probation for taking advantage of all those inmates. They were basically set up.

I’d be looking mad too if a lady sent me a ballot to vote, only to then turn around and use her power to have me re-arrested for submitting that very ballot she sent to me.
