Rep. Cammack introduces Public Safety Communications Act

Press release from Rep. Kat Cammack

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Kat Cammack introduced the Public Safety Communications Act to amend the National Telecommunications and Information Administration Organization Act to establish the Office of Public Safety Communications.

The bill establishes that within the newly created Office of Public Safety Communications, an Associate Administrator for Public Safety Communications will be responsible for administering the grant programs associated with the Next Generation 911 technologies, evaluating public safety communications matters before Congress, and communicating public safety policies to public and private entities.

“As the wife of a first responder, I know how important public safety communications are to law enforcement and emergency response personnel,” said Rep. Cammack. “New technologies are emerging daily that can help to improve the work of our first responders, which is why coordination is critical. I know this is a bipartisan effort that should garner support on both sides of the aisle, and I look forward to welcoming my colleagues to join this legislation.”

  • For someone who hangs her hat on farmers/agriculture and veterans affairs, she has capitulated to the s___storm from Musk and his cronies. No backbone when it’s needed most.

      • Anyone would be scared of town halls in Gainesville with all the left wing riff raff that shows up

        • I love how a lot of you both describe “leftwing riff raff” as terrifying but also “soft” and “woke.” And that you’re also scared to go into a city but then talk big talk about guns and being tough. Very funny.

    • Who drove the cost of prescription Meds up in the last 4 years? Grandpa Joe did. Who beat Medicare to death and raised Social Security Tax? Grandpa Joe did. Check your facts before blame Trump or Musk for a problem that has been going on for 4 years.

  • Phat 03: I propose to create a new department within a new department.

Elon Dogs: We are cutting gumment employment and eliminating departments.

Am I the only one who notices a SERIOUS policy disconnect here?

  • Kat needs to read the constitution and then find some balls. She already started her career in DC by trying overthrow an election and now she is sitting on her hands while her cult leader and his chief ghoul are closing down congressionally funded agencies in a stupid and haphazard manner that will cost a lot to restore, which is inevitable. Congress is the branch that has the power of the purse, and this not some dry and technical issue. The richest man in the world is busy taking jobs away from workers, health care away from the sick and the poor (closing USAID’s program that Bush jr started for HIV patients in Africa has already resulted in 100s of babies being born with HIV, and usually 1/3 of that number die in their 1st year), and firing federal workers overseeing his companies many businesses with the government. And she’s screwing around with “Public Safety Communications”?

    • Further she should note that Trump’s fellow criminals – the J6 felons who were pardoned – are in DC at CPAC and celebrating their new found fame and political power.

I’m sure Kat is very proud and brings this up when she meets with local sheriffs.

    • Yup.. Kat is doing that and worse. Most importantly, she is supporting a do nothing bill while turning a blind eye to the destruction of the very infrastructure (yes, govmment employees) that provided the response to numerous tropical storms (that she touted and took credit for) and providing life sustaining medicare and social security and veterans benefits. Looking at the map, our district is one of the most dependent upon these benefits. Also, looking at the map, it is also home to the largest medical research institutions and provides vital research into myriad medical and agricultural issues of national import, and critical jobs and yet I haven’t heard a peep.

As an avid outdoors person, I am truly dismayed by the ravaging of the staffing at our national parks which threaten both access and the short and long term experience at the parks, a sentiment shared by many of my friends.

To call what is going on in DC currently is anything but “responsible”, “professional”, “mission directed” or any other positive euphemism. These affect the lives of the employees and the constituents. And yet I hear nothing from Kat. Why? Is Kat scared?

One additional issue of less obvious import is that while nobody particularly likes the IRS, I do have a healthy respect for the need to properly staff and provide them with the hammer that they need to enforce the laws currently on the books to ensure that we as a nation can provide for our military and the others mentioned above, and others as enacted in the budget initiated in Kats house of Congress. It’s only fair, and if Kat dont like it, then it’s time for her to work collaboratively with her colleges to change the system for the better, rather than silently overseeing the current implosion.

Frankly, it’s about time that Kat stops talking about the border (we are not a border state), big sugar (last I heard, we do not grow significant quantities of sugar cane here) and stay at home (in your district) and meet with your constituents one on one where you might find out something about them, like what their interests are, where they work (and who their employers customers are), their leisure activities, and what keeps them up at night. I know that this might seem scary, but even folks that disagree with you on most issues are harmless and willing to be nice and engage in a dialogue. She might learn a lot that could help to better represent this district.

  • PS Another thing Kat should work on is holding hearings on the firing of the black chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the highest ranking women in our military, a much experienced in the field Admiral by the incompetent Pete Hesgeth. Take note that of the 40+ Trump appointees, only 1 is black and most are men, so I guess we still have DEI. Most of those appointees couldn’t get jobs as Regional VPs for Dollar General.

  • No federal grants money for Gainesville & Alachua County until they ban paper straws and bring back plastic straws!
