Rep. Cammack sworn in for 3rd term, introduces two bills on day one

Press release from U.S. Representative Kat Cammack

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Kat Cammack was sworn in to serve her third term in the House of Representatives during the 119th Congress. She introduced two pieces of legislation on the first day of the Congress, the REINS Act and the USA Act.

The Regulations by the Executive In Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act, Congresswoman Cammack’s signature legislation, would return legislative power to Congress, check federal overreach, and ensure Americans have the tools to defend their rights. The REINS Act requires Congress to approve major federal agency rules and rules with an impact of $100M or more before they take effect. An earlier edition of the REINS Act passed the House of Representatives during the 118th Congress on June 14, 2023. View the text of the REINS Act here.

The Unauthorized Spending Accountability Act (USA Act) establishes a budgetary level reduction schedule to start in fiscal year 2026 for any authorized program or activity listed in the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) annual report. The bill also reduces the budgetary level for unauthorized programs by an amount equal to ten percent of the funds appropriated for the program in the expiring fiscal year. “It’s an honor to serve the Third Congressional District of Florida in the House of Representatives,” said Rep. Cammack. “We have worked hard over the last four years to represent North Central Florida and make it the best place to live, work, and raise a family. With President Trump taking the Oath of Office in just over two weeks, I’m looking forward to reinvigorating our economy, securing our southern border, and making our communities safe again. With Republicans in the House, Senate, and White House, we are well positioned to take action on President Trump’s agenda and deliver for the American people. I look forward to moving these bills across the finish line.”

Rep. Cammack returns an experienced senior staff team, including Larry Calhoun as Chief of Staff, Jessica Norfleet as Deputy Chief of Staff and District Director, Joshua Woodward as Deputy Chief for Policy, Adeline Sandridge as Deputy Chief for Communications and Operations, Ruth Clark as Director of Operations, and Dorothy Richardson as Director of Constituent Advocacy and District Operations.

Stay tuned for more announcements about the 119th Congress in the coming weeks.

  • These bills were requested by whom? How about dealing with the coming social security crisis? And how about providing the bloated salaries of your bloated staff?

    • Unfortunately GOP House leaders are already talking about cutting benefits or raising retirement age (none of these fat loads worked hard physical jobs that wreck your body by the time your 60) and they have their eye on cutting the budget to justify their rich guys tax cut renewal – it’s up at the end of 2025. Blue collar MAGA voters are about to get a another rude awakening to go with the H1B policy Elon bought with his $250 million (he paid $44 billion for Twitter). That’s not about unqualified Americans, it’s about cheaper and easily fired technicians for his sweat shops. With the removal of a restriction on Americans making deals in China from the budget resolution, that’s the best $250 million (couch change for him) he’s spent.

  • How about a ” anti whining bill” so all the losers can move on after being stung by the Nationwide Election Mandate( except Alachua County) and be productive members of a winning, lawful , and respectful regime. Or they can choose to be obstinate and struggle with their lack of reality for the next decade.

    • Most of the whining here is by MAGA posters about local government.

A “mandate” is a subjective assessment indicating overwhelming support in an election. Since Trump did not even win a majority of votes cast – most Americans voted for someone else – his “mandate” is non-existent. He lost seats in the House. He flipped the senate in a race heavily tilted to the GOP in terms of seats to be defended, and by less than predicted.

He won the election and the right to hold the office for which he is morally unfit and should be legally unfit given his attempted coup. He has no mandate.

      • You must have gotten your figures from your usual sources. Trump did win the popular vote as well as the Electoral College. Of course it’s a mandate . It’s possible the Democrats will never be in charge again after all the pain inflicted on the Nation. They have no shame or maybe don’t even realize why the got stomped in the election. Sound familiar?

  • Kat violated her oath office on the day she 1st took office in 2020 by joining the Trump coup attempt. She’s a traitor who does nothing but get on Fox news and cannot be trusted.

  • Thought I saw DeSantis at UF-Kentucky BB game in Lexington just now and a UK blog confirmed it.

The coward is sitting one row back and wearing a black jacket and no visible cheering. Where’s the orange and blue, tough guy?! Where’s the “CHOMP” on a Clayton 3?

  • I wish the Chronicle would allow comments on ALL the press releases it posts. Recently, they published a press release by some local attorney telling us what a hero and amazing human being he is—with no ability to comment. If that’s Chronicle policy, where do I send my press release self-describing how awesome I am?

    • Jed I was about to post the same thing. Recently the AC posted a “press release,” with no comments, from Moms for Liberty about their campaign to “give parents the resources they need to fight back against indoctrination in K-12 public schools.” This is an editorial to teach ultra conservative parents to Oppose and Fight the Government, the Enemy of the MAGA People.

Moms for Liberty is one of the most far right fascist organizations in existence today. For the AC to publish their press release without calling it an editorial, and without allowing comments, shows me the AC publishers have views aligned with the MAGA fascists and wish to promote them as a news type press release. But then, I already knew that.

Which is sad, as this blog has the potential to be a politically neutral news source for Alachua County. Instead, the owners choose to use it to Fox Newz push their own personal political beliefs, just like their friends at the Alachua County Today print rag. They own it, they can do it, and they can choose to self limit their readership and profits if they want. Free market capitalism at work. Still sad.

      • How brave you are, posting anonymously to call Len and Jennifer fascists! At least they put their names to their work.

      • Much as I disdain MFL – and I read a fair amount of the links provided in that press release and the hard to find but obvious goal is to get religion into the teaching of “SEL” (their religion, no doubt, not Islam or Buddhism, etc) – I think Jennifer publishes press releases as she gets them and that includes some left leaning ones I’ve seen here. Does she seek out others from the right? I don’t know, but doesn’t seem like it and as long as she treats them all the same – that is without editorial comment – OK. I do know she treats me fairly and I’m a pain in the ass.

  • Will she or won’t she …….. vote to certify the election results, today, Jan 6? Cant tell with this dishonest traitor, though since her guy won we know she will. We also know that if he lost, both he and she would claim it was a steal and try to overturn it again.

How do people vote for these kind of self centered lying sleaze bags who refuse to play by the simple rules kids learn to follow by 1st grade in a school yard?
