Rep. Chuck Brannan announces Alachua County appropriations

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – State Representative Chuck Brannan is proud to announce that many great local appropriations projects, which he has supported heavily, have been included in this year’s state budget. The projects reflect strong legislative support for critical community investments in areas such as Education, Infrastructure, and Public Safety. These projects mark a significant step forward for Alachua County. The state budget includes funding for the following local projects; the first six projects listed below were Representative Brannan’s personal member appropriation projects that he worked tirelessly to get included into the budget:

  • University of Florida – Dental Sciences Building – $47,500,000
  • Alachua Wastewater Treatment Facility Expansion – $225,000
  • High Springs North-West Alachua County Utility Improvements – $250,000
  • Gainesville Law Enforcement Property & Evidence Hub – $350,000
  • City of High Springs Police Station – $250,000
  • Save Florida Waters, Inc. Northern Springs Restoration Project – $250,000
  • Construction Inspection Consultants-FDOT Work Program – $1,244,454.00
  • Highway Maintenance Contracts-FDOT Work Program – $21,318,228.00
  • Intrastate Highway Construction-FDOT Work Program – $3,719,588.00
  • Preliminary Engineering Consultants-FDOT Work Program – $6,082,688.00
  • Resurfacing – FDOT Work Program – $20,813,303.00
  • Right of Way Land Acquisition-FDOT Work Program – $2,218,969.00
  • Traffic Engineering Consultants-FDOT Work Program – $1,285,011.00
  • Public Schools Workforce Education Program Funds – $341,518
  • Voluntary Prekindergarten Program – $3,958,100
  • School Readiness Services – $10,782,812

While the legislature has approved these appropriations, they remain subject to the governor’s signature.

Representative Brannan urges continued support from the community to ensure these priorities are fully realized.

    • I hope so…ACSB doesn’t need any of that $15,000,000 to squander on state paid childcare. Parents need to pay for their children, not me. Don’t breed em if you can’t educate & feed em. It’s called personal responsibility. It takes a village to raise a child is a commi slogan.

      • Those children are an asset to our community and our nation and will be paying into your SS account soon enough, manning our military, along with immigrants manning our economy, and developing the scientific, technical, and medical advancements virtually every generation of humans has produced. Quit pretending you’re an island. You couldn’t survive a month without the rest of us, nor could any of us.

    • You are correct. If past trends follow, he will automatically cut 50% of Gainesville’s funding just because it is liberal and woke and that is what spiteful Republican governors do.
