Rep. Yvonne Hinson announces she will not seek re-election
BY JENNIFER CABRERA
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Rep. Yvonne Hayes Hinson (HD21) has announced that she will not seek re-election and endorsed Malik Moore to succeed her.
Hinson said she made her announcement “with a heart full of gratitude” and added that she had “devoted [her] entire adult life to serving our community, our state, and our people.” She said it was time to “step back, to savor the fruits of my labor, and to spend more time with family and loved ones.”
The rest of her letter was devoted to endorsing Malik Moore for her seat. She said he has been “preparing for this path for most of his young life” and joined her campaign when he was 17 years old, “learning not just the mechanics of politics but the meaning of service.”
Hinson wrote that after graduating from Florida State University, Moore went to work for Representative Diane Hart (HD63), “becoming an indispensable member of her team and earning the respect of colleagues, legislators, and constituents alike… He is committed, tested, and ready to lead.”
According to Moore’s LinkedIn page, he worked for Hinson’s campaign for about 11 months in 2018 and earned an AA in Political Science from Santa Fe College before earning a Bachelor’s in Political Science at Florida State, followed by a Master’s in Applied American Politics and Policy, also from Florida State. He worked as a legislative aide from July 2020 to June 2022, worked for Charlie Crist’s gubernatorial campaign from July 2022 to November 2022, and began working as a Senior Legislative Aide in November 2022.
According to his resume, he has visited over 50 jails and prisons, advocating for humane treatment of inmates, and has assisted in communications and gala planning for the Florida Legislative Black Caucus.
Since October 2024, he has worked full-time as the Government Affairs/Relations Manager for Cox Communications.

Bye.
Good Riddance
Should take Schumer, SCHIFFTY SHIFT and ALL THE OTHER OLD FARTS WITH HER!👍😎
District 1 could use a businessman or military vet, not a political science graduate, to turn things around better.
Career politicians simply don’t know how the real world works. It’s not all ideology out here. Ideology doesn’t pay bills. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
…but he visited 50 jails/prisons! He’s going to “the folks “realJK! If you’re a paleskin constituent you may not get too much attention though.
So from visiting 50 jails and prisons what has he learned. More humane treatment.
How about visiting the victims of these jailbirds. See how their life was affected. He has his priorities straight.
“According to his resume, he has visited over 50 jails and prisons, advocating for humane treatment of inmates, and has assisted in communications and gala planning for the Florida Legislative Black Caucus.”
How bout electing a candidate that is willing to represent ALL of their constituents? Not just the black ones.
Just great more comfort and luxuries for criminals, they go there to be punished not to be pampered.
So we have one biased person who never worked a day in her life for a non government entity and she wants her replacement to also be a biased person drinking only from the taxpayer trough. Sad result of DEI.
If I ran for this seat would you guys vote for me?
I don’t belong to any groups or organizations and my focus would be the people.
I think local politics and the status quo needed to be shaken up and we all know im just the guy to do it.
Who knows I may have a future in politics (hihi).
