Rescue crews extricate one from rollover crash in Cross Creek
Staff report from Alachua County Fire Rescue social media post
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – Early this morning, units from the Cross Creek Fire Department and Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR) responded to a single-vehicle accident on CR 325 in Cross Creek.
Crews found a single pickup truck that had rolled several times, with one entrapped occupant. Using hydraulic rescue tools, commonly referred to as “Jaws of Life,” crews from ACFR and Cross Creek were able to safely remove the occupant from the vehicle.
The occupant was transported to a local hospital by ACFR. Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. ACFR would like to remind everyone to drive with care during this holiday season and please remember to move out for emergency vehicles in the roadway.
Better to be extricated than ejected.
Seatbelts save lives – make the choice that gives you the best chance of surviving.
The speed limit where the accident took place is 35, it was dark, there are deer all through this area, and from what I saw the vehicle might have been trying to avoid something on the right side of the road. Yes it was a good thing the person was wearing a seatbelt, I have my doubts that they were traveling at 35. I wish a full recovery to the driver and we’ll wait here in the creek for the next one.
As always, firemen the unsung heroes, to the rescue. You guys ARE heroes and deserve nothing but respect and gratitude.
