Residential trash collection delayed by one day this week due to transfer station fire

CLARIFICATION: GFL customers will be delayed this week.

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – Due to a fire at the Leveda Brown Environmental Park and Transfer Station over the holiday weekend, the Labor Day schedule for Alachua County Solid Waste has been updated.

Residential curbside collection services for solid waste, recycling, and yard trash will not occur on Monday, Sept. 1, 2025. Residential curbside collection services will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. Regular schedules will resume the following week.

The Transfer Station (5115 NE 63rd Ave., Gainesville), the five Alachua County Rural Collection Centers, and the Office of Waste Collection will be closed on Monday, Sept. 1.

All Alachua County Solid Waste facilities will reopen and resume operations on Tuesday, Sept. 2. 

The Alachua County Household Hazardous Waste facility will also be open on Monday, Sept 1.
