Resurfacing work to begin on U.S. 441 in Alachua next week

ALACHUA, Fla. – Resurfacing work on U.S. 441 from Northwest 167th Boulevard to County Road 2054 in Alachua is scheduled to begin next week. This project consists of milling and resurfacing, base work, shoulder treatment, drainage improvements, curb and gutters, sidewalk, highway signing, and other incidental construction.
Traffic will be maintained in accordance with FDOT design standards throughout the project. Drivers can expect nighttime lane closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Sunday. No lane closures will be allowed from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Sunday.
Anderson Columbia Inc. was chosen to complete this $5.8 million resurfacing project, which is estimated to be completed in summer 2026, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.

It will nice to have new road there, but I hadn’t noticed major issues here, how did it get ahead of many other roads that are in worse shape?
This is a state project, not a county project. The state actually maintains its roads on a schedule so they don’t get to where our county roads are.
