Santa Fe College receives $60k donation from Greenhouse Church

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Last week, Santa Fe College was presented with a donation of $60,000 from Greenhouse Church to fund scholarships including My Brother’s Keeper, International Students, Study Abroad, and the college’s new Free to Learn initiative.
Free to Learn provides training and educational opportunities for incarcerated individuals who will soon be returning to society. The program is designed to provide skills and training that can help individuals succeed when they leave the prison system and can lead to reduced rates of recidivism.
Officials from the church have given to the college previously and were inspired to make this additional donation, specifically because of Free to Learn.
SF President Paul Broadie II thanked Ms. Levings for the check and said that as a society we need to come up with a holistic approach to addressing needs in the community.
“We are not only seeing an uptick in crime, which the City and other entities including Santa Fe are working to address, but we are seeing offenders at younger and younger ages,” Broadie said. “By providing avenues for these individuals to learn a skill, expand their knowledge, and realize there is something better waiting for them, we can address some of the issues and hopefully change the trajectory of their lives.
SF is dedicated to creating opportunities for students, and at the start of the last academic year, President Broadie challenged the college community to focus on innovation and find ways to cultivate new relationships throughout the college’s service district of Alachua and Bradford counties.

Nice gesture Greenhouse, but this large gift (PR stunt) does not detract from the fact that your ministry was built on environmentalism and is still operating under dictates that in no way represent biblical
Christianity. It’s ok to do what you’re doing, just don’t do it under a false Christian pretext.

I am not familiar with Greenhouse. Please clue me in on what you are talking about. The only thing I know about them is that their new site was a mudhole when it was being built.
