School board to hold public input meeting for spot rezoning on March 23

NOTICE OF PUBLIC INPUT SESSION

The School Board of Alachua County, Florida, shall hold a public meeting to which all persons are invited.

Date and Time: Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 5:30 p.m.

Place: Myra A. Terwilliger Elementary School

3999 SW 122nd Street, Gainesville, FL 32608

Purpose: To receive public comment on possible amendments to the school zone boundaries for Chiles, Hidden Oak, Meadowbrook, and Terwilliger elementary for the 2023-2024 school year.

This meeting is being called pursuant to and in accordance with Section 1001.372(1) and 120.525, F.S. The agenda is available in the Superintendent s Office, District Administration Building.

There are three ways citizens may offer their input for this meeting: 1) submit input through email at issues@gm.sbac.edu by noon the day of the board meeting; 2) go to the meeting location to offer their input in person during the meeting or 3) Check the March 23, 2023 Agenda on the District s website, www.sbac.edu, prior to the meeting for additional options to participate remotely.

Any person who decides to appeal a decision of the School Board with respect to any matter considered at such meeting is hereby advised that, for such purpose, he or she may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the meeting is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.

  • The SBAC needs to remember a couple things:
    1) It starts at home
    2) They need to promote students striving to progress in their educational goals, not regress
    3) Stop blaming the schools and it’s staff
    4) Just because the environment changes, (the variable), doesn’t always mean the student, (the constant), can/wants to.
