GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A Santa Fe Police Department (SFPD) patrol car was spray-painted this afternoon after a man was asked to leave the Blount Center at 401 NW 6th Street; the same man was seen spray-painting the car with red paint a short time later.
Gainesville Police Department officers responded to assist in finding the suspect, who left on a bicycle, but he has not been located. Santa Fe Police Chief Ed Book said SFPD did not chase the subject because the windshield of the car was covered with spray paint.

City leaders must be so proud.
I guess if “in kind” penalties were permitted, the perp could be tarred and feathered.
Could it be that he was upset that RTS & SFC removed the covered bus bench in the middle of that downtown campus? A bus bench that predominantly people of color used? Maybe the city will replace it with one of those solar powered ones where you can charge your cell phones, etc. Sound absurd?
Tar & feather him for expressing his 1st Amendment rights? This guy has suffered enough systemic racism.
He was hot and fed up and wanted a place to sit down and eat his can of ravioli. That covered
Bus stop was a go-to place for him over the years. He snapped. Had enough…he may actually be a hero for fighting back because of his perceived injustices…
Is that right? And what punishment would you dish out for those who refuse to wear the mask and take the c19 shot, the guilotine (sp?)? Off with their heads!
Celebrate Tolerance and Diversity!
(even the spraypainted words on the picture are censored)
He committed a selfless heroic act against a perceived social injustice using his 1st Amendment right. Rosa Parks did it too…he should be tarred & feathered?
(This should be banned because it is a duplicate posting of your story that also poses as comedy) Gainesville Police Department officers responded to assist in finding the suspect, who left on a bicycle, but he has not been located. Santa Fe Police Chief Ed Book said SFPD did not chase the subject because the windshield of the car was covered with spray paint.
If only the PerpetualWarMachinePoliceState had enough resources to catch the perps
He just wanted his equitable share and his daddy doesn’t have the secret service to clean up after his urban straw bubble painting.
Does SFPD have but one patrol car? That’s hard to believe. So what happens when it goes to the shop for maintenance??
How can Santa Fe college Police Department protect students and college property when in daylight they can’t protect their own property. It’s a shame for them. If I was an officer for this Department I would be shamed to receive my biweekly paycheck and would consider changing to another law enforcement agency that works. To catch this guy on the Bike all they have to do is go to the parking lot of Publix a few blocks away. You can’t go shopping without a bike bum asking for money. Gainesville must do something about homeless criminal bums begging for money at every major intersection. Gainesville should be renamed Bumsville Florida.
Got it…This was done in broad daylight not like a graffito vandal in the middle of the night. It’s a social justice thing. BLM.
He’s a hero like George Floyd. Hope they don’t put their knee on his neck when they catch up with him..
If RTS is involved in this, then: hey, RTS…how about putting a garbage can at EVERY bus stop in the city so
Environmentalists can pick up the trash and dispose of it properly instead of the litter ending up on the streets and sidewalks. We need more public trash cans to keep GNV clean & green! You reading this city manager?
