  • The city wants to cut down gun crime go in too the black community and get them to stop shooting each other get fathers to raise their kids along with the mother’s right and wrong has to be taught at home don’t be afraid to put a belt on their ass

  • How ironic; homicide in Cynthia Chestnut Park. Maybe she’ll be able to tell us how those progressive liberal policies are working for crime prevention and reduction.

  • Sad but park should be made into “Cynthia Chestnut Cemetary”.
Killings won’t stop until it starts happening in Duck Pond area.

  • Since they’re getting free ad space, Chestnuts should donate victim’s funeral costs.

  • Quite a cultural ‘inheritance’ being handed down which has nothing to do with racism. Come on people raise your children!

  • Some stores are putting up Christmas stuff already.

    Chestnut Park under fire,
hot rounds nipping at their toes,
Eulogies being given at someone’s funeral,
and folks needing body armor to go to the store.

Everybody knows what’s most to blame,
they don’t want to admit it because it brings such shame.

Parents not able to sleep at night,
wondering if their kids will make it home tonight,
or be in the morgue at first light.

The cause is not what some people want to blame.

  • Judging from Google maps streetview, this county park appears well maintained but is also an isolated spot–one wooded road in/out.

  • That park is so secluded it’s not surprising. It is a beautiful park or was last year but there is too much to block it from the rest of the world. I would not be surprised if there were no witnesses. Did the one that called to report stay at the scene? The sheriff likely will not answer that question. This is sad in many ways, and now who would even want to take their children there?

  • This isn’t Cynthis Chestnut’s fault, I am about as right wing, and conservative REPUBLICAN, that you can possibly be. I know her, she is a nice lady.

    • Don’t know if anyone blamed Cynthia Chestnut but I’m one to believe that her and her cohorts’ liberal policies have done little to nothing to curb the violence in Gainesville.

Rattlesnakes are nice too, helping with rodents and such – until you step on one.

    • No it’s not her fault but don’t put your name on something you have no plans on going to. Plus this isn’t the first shooting at that location. Honestly it’s the cheapest park in Gainesville and she’s not the blame, that I do know

  • The county commies are gonna blame the guns….

How about blaming terrible federal policy that encourages the decay of marriages, families, good work ethic, etc.?

If the victim had a legally concealed weapon, he may not be the victim.

    People, get trained and carry!!!

  • Actually, I don’t think people realize these may be acts by design. Anything and everything is possible. Don’t forget also, that our weaponize foods, or what we call food, could be triggering behavior that individuals have no idea what or why they even acted out of character. Smoking can be another drug infused entry into the brain. We must think outside the box at times. Food for thought!

  • It’s not guns that are killing the black community. It is people killing people. There is no moral regard for life anymore. Look at the guy who was mowed down in Butler Plaza. Look at the old man that was mowed down on bike in Las Vegas by a 17 year old. They video tapoed it and laughed about it. The Democrats filter videos like the George Floyd tapes, the Michael Brown tape, the antifa riots to make people normalize the violent behavior. Add in drugs to dull the senses and teach urban youth that they are not equal to other kids and normalize that it’s ok to not be educated. Add in that there are no father figures and sometimes no mother figures is just a complete recipe for violence. Stop telling kids its ok to act out because of their life cirumstances or that their feelings get hurt. When kids commit violent crime hold them accountable and stop the inequality/disadvantaged, or the flip side of being rich and my parent is so and so defenses. Democrats continue to do the separate but equal crap, and the elite Democrats say anywhere but my backyard. When people actually start valuing their own lives maybe they can value another human life.
