South Carolina man arrested for pointing a gun during road rage incident near Orange Heights

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – Christopher Michael Core, 40, of Johns Island, SC, was arrested yesterday morning and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly pointing a gun at another driver in a road rage incident near Orange Heights.

An Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy responded yesterday morning to a report of a road rage incident on U.S. Hwy 301, north of Orange Heights. The victim told the deputy that a driver later identified as Core was driving a semi and pulling a trailer southbound on U.S. Hwy 301 when the two drivers became engaged in a road rage incident. The victim reported that Core had pointed a handgun at him that looked liked a .357 revolver.

The deputy detained Core, and post Miranda, Core showed the deputy a BB gun that looked similar to a .357 Magnum revolver.

Core was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is being held on $75,000 bail.
