State Attorney joins forces with multiple State and local agencies to create the 8th Circuit Violent Crime and Narcotic Taskforce

State Attorney Brian Kramer, Interim City of Gainesville Manager Cynthia Curry, Acting Gainesville Police Chief Lonnie Scott, University Police Chief Linda Stump-Kurnick, and agents from both the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Florida Highway Patrol are joining forces to address violent and gun-related crime in Gainesville and the surrounding community.
This task force will work to together to identify crime trends, investigate violent and narcotic related crimes, and expeditiously arrest persons responsible.
The multi-agency partnership in cooperation with the State Attorney gives the task force the needed jurisdictional authority to streamline and create shared efforts on community violence.
The State Attorney, Brian Kramer, will dedicate an Assistant State Attorney and an Investigator to work alongside the task force, in order to readily address this pressing community need.
This unification of Gainesville’s law enforcement agencies and the 8th Judicial Circuit is an intentional and explicit effort to leverage our resources and expedite our progress in reducing violent crime in our community.
