GAINESVILLE, Fla. – On Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at approximately 12:30 a.m., while on an increased foot patrol at an apartment complex, a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) officer saw a vehicle he knew had been reported stolen on Monday, June 27. The stolen vehicle (2015 Chrysler 200) exited the apartment complex, and the GPD officer got back into his vehicle to initiate a traffic stop. Gainesville Fire Rescue responded and extracted two occupants from inside of the stolen vehicle. Both occupants were transported to UF Health Shands. One occupant was pronounced deceased at Shands. The other occupant remains in critical condition. Two stolen firearms were also located inside the stolen vehicle.

If anyone has information about this incident, please contact the GPD Traffic Safety Team at 352-393-7744.

  • I appreciate them saving at least half of my taxes rather than one of their lives. On an even brighter side, it probably saved someone else’s life since they were in possession of stolen firearms.

Those laws to keep criminals from obtaining firearms really worked in this case didn’t they?

  • Two stolen ‘ghost guns’? Another of Joke Biden’s false claims that ghost guns are used by criminals. They steal guns and sell them or….steal them from us or each other.
