Supervisor of Elections Office reminds voters that vote-by-mail requests have expired
Press release from Alachua County Supervisor of Elections
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. — This week, the Alachua County Supervisor of Elections Office will be contacting voters about new vote-by-mail procedures as a result of changes to Florida Election Law. Due to Senate Bill 90, all vote-by-mail ballot requests in Florida expired on December 31, 2022. Voters must make a new vote-by-mail ballot request for each election cycle. The next election cycle is in 2024.
The Supervisor of Elections Office will begin the campaign by sending emails to voters who have provided their email addresses to the office and who have previously requested a vote-by-mail ballot but have not renewed their request for 2024. The emails will remind voters of those changes and provide them with information about how to make a new request online at VoteAlachua.gov, in-person at our office, over the phone at 352-374-5252, or by mail. Later in the year, the campaign will include letters to voters who previously requested a vote-by-mail ballot from our office and haven’t renewed their request for 2024.
Although the Presidential Preference Primary (March 19, 2024), the Primary Election (August 20, 2024), and the General Election (November 5, 2024) are next year, the Supervisor of Elections Office recommends that all voters begin thinking now about their preferred method of voting.
Of course there will be agitators who will whine that having to renew your vote by mail preference somehow deprives certain people of their “right to vote”. Sad.
I vote by mail every election. Why should I have to renew? It should be permanent until the day I move away or die. The fascist Republicans only have renewals to hope people forget to renew and then don’t want to vote in person due to the crowds and long lines. We’re not stupid.
🤣🤣🤣
The honest answer to your question is that many people move, die, etc. When they stay on the rolls, their vote can be taken by someone not entitled to it. Nothing is permanent. I’m sure you will have time in the next six months to reaffirm your right to vote by mail, either by letter, phone call, or internet. There are also many organizations available to help mentally challenged people get on the rolls.
All the more reason we should have stayed in ERIC, a voter roll monitor program that ACTUALLY WORKS, instead of running for the exits because of a bunch of fabricated hooie with absolutely no basis in fact.
Thanks, Ron!
Will there be an “extra push” to certain favored precincts (or the Jail) over others? In unconstitutional violation of Equal Process?
Can we get some ‘Zuckerbucks’ too? Oh….that’s right you have to vote dumbocrat in order to get those.
