Supervisor of Elections Office to table at Disability Awareness Expo: MLK Jr. Center, July 23

Press release from Alachua County Supervisor of Elections
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – The Alachua County Supervisor of Elections Office will be tabling at the Alachua County Disability Awareness Expo in Gainesville on Wednesday, July 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The expo, which will take place at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Multipurpose Center, located at 1028 Northeast 14th Street in Gainesville, is in celebration of the 1990 passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Attendees will be able to learn about the accessible voting services and equipment offered by the Alachua County Supervisor of Elections Office, register to vote and update their voter registration information, renew or request vote-by-mail ballots for future elections, and ask questions about upcoming elections and voting.

In my past life I was a contracted Support Coordinator (community case management) for clients with intellectual and physical disabilities for 14 years. Many of the group homes were in the NE and SE Gainesville area in those days. Many (not all) of the clients (aka “consumers”)were housed in group homes and not suprisingly almost all were registered to vote by mail and always had the assistance of the group home managers. Many of these clients had little-to-no comprehension of what issues were on the ballots and/or who was on the ballots but the staff made sure they were “heard”. Not technically illegal but definitely tacky if not shameful.I wonder if things have changed? Just wondering…
Underrated comment! You need a thousand 👍. Thank you.
What does it mean to be “tabling”? Gosh I must be getting old if I don’t even understand common lingo….
Table is a noun, unless you mean to postpone or cancel.
Please do not distort the English language and expect to communicate with normal people.
If you use table in this way because others have, don’t be dragged down by their ignorance.
