Sweetwater Wetlands Park adds electric tram

Press release from the City of Gainesville
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Wild Spaces & Public Places and Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs are pleased to announce that Sweetwater Wetlands Park recently acquired a 10-passenger accessible electric tram to accommodate those with mobility challenges along with their family and friends. Paid for by the Wild Spaces & Public Places half-cent sales tax, the tram allows for guided tours where passengers can learn about the park’s wildlife and plants along with its history and management. The cost of the tram was $37,180.
Tours are free with general park admission fee ($5/vehicle) and are booked in advance via Eventbrite. If you do not require mobility assistance at the park, we ask that you join one of the walking tours.

If only the “authorities” would use some of the tax monies to make the park more attractive to waterfowl again, the way it was before the hydric weeds choked off the sloughs.
