Tacachale celebrates 41 years of holiday lights on December 11
Press release from Tacachale Center
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Tacachale Center will welcome the community for its 41st Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 11 at its campus, 1621 NE Waldo Road, home to more than 200 people with developmental disabilities.
Guest arrival begins at 6:00 p.m., with tree-lighting activities at 6:30 p.m. The evening will feature live music, refreshments, and — if holiday magic prevails — a visit from Santa Claus. The celebration is free and open to the public, and community members are encouraged to join in this festive tradition.
“As we mark the 41st anniversary of this cherished tradition, we are grateful for the Gainesville community’s generosity and spirit,” said Agency for Persons with Disabilities Director Robert “Bob” Asztalos. “This event truly captures the joy of the season, and I encourage everyone to come out and be part of the celebration at Tacachale.”
Returning as Master of Ceremonies is David Snyder, news anchor at WCJB TV20. Musical performances will be provided by the Tacachale Gospel Choir, Annasemble Orchestra, and 1000 Voices of Florida.
Tacachale is also seeking sponsors for its Christmas Home Adoption Program. Sponsors are invited to provide a gift for each resident in a home and host a small holiday gathering with light refreshments.
The generosity of the Gainesville community is vital in fulfilling holiday wish lists for Tacachale residents. Tax-deductible donations may be made to Tacachale Christmas 2025 and mailed to:
