Testa: Vote for Miller and Tapanes in High Springs today

Letter to the editor

Note: this letter arrived via USPS Mail, and Alachua Chronicle just received it today.

Some folks simply don’t care for a “representative” form of government because there isn’t anything in it for them. When you get wealthy people in a community that want things their way, they buy it (plutocracy). When you get dull, weak people in a community that want things their way, they cheat and bully to get it (oligarchy).

High Springs has developed a well-organized oligarchy. Once the people who are getting excluded by the oligarchs or plutocrats realize they are not being represented, they speak out. When they speak out or run a campaign against the incumbents, then we hear, “How dare you try to challenge us! We have a well-oiled machine (4-1) and want to keep it that way.”

Vote for the two challengers, Andrew Miller and Steven Tapanes, because they seem to be committed to the “representative” form of government and are certainly not part of the “herd.” If elected, you will see a 3-2 vote in the other direction. This shows us all how important the “democratic process” can be.

So vote!

Rick Testa, High Springs

  • Andrew= 63.5% to Ross = 36.5.% Steve = 59.2% to Gloria 40.8%. These are +18 and +27 numbers. While the total returns are low, the numbers are overwhelming to victors.

  • Accurate assessment of the situation in
High Springs. Ross convince three board
members to sit there and do nothing but give him a second and their vote. Three straight year’s of no discussions and 4-1 votes. Tonight it ended a new era in returning to a democratic form of Government. Ross and silent Gloria lost their seats and titles. The people won.
